Jackie Evans

Jackie joined the DATA-CAN PPIE Group in October 2024

Living in Wales Jackie is a retired housing officer and surveyor who has also spent many years in PPIE. Working in the Community Health Council, now Llais (meaning `voice`) she was responsible for PPE seeking patients` views and experiences of health care services.

Jackie is committed to supporting cancer research having cared for and supported friends and family through their cancer journeys, prostate cancer, lung cancer and breast cancer.  She is passionate about the value of accurate data and how it can be used to improve the health and wellbeing of the population.

A supporter of health and care research and  the importance of PPIE being embedded in all aspects Jackie is a public/patient member supporter and reviewer for Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW). She contributes to the SAIL (Secure Anonymised Information Linkage Databank) Consumer Panel and reviews research proposals for the National Institute for Health and Care Research. Jackie is a member of the Health Data Research UK (HDR UK), Transforming Data for Trials Research, Public Advisory Group and is a lay member of research governance and ethics committees in Wales.

She believes public data should be of high quality, inclusive, accurate and relevant. That patients should be given clear information as to how their data may be used and stored and the potential to improve people`s lives in the future.

Whatever the weather Jackie enjoys swimming and walking her two dogs in the Welsh hills.
